Present Continuous Tense

รูปแบบของ Present Continuous Tense ก็คือ

1.ประโยคบอกเล่า (Affirmative Sentence) = Subject + is/am/are + V.ing

2.ประโยคปฏิเสธ ( Negative Sentence ) = Subject + is/am/are + not + V.ing

3.ประโยคคำถาม (Question Sentence) = Is/Am/Are + Subject + V.ing?

หรือ Who/What/Where/When/Why/How + is/am/are + Subject + V.ing?

หลักการใช้ Present Continuous Tense

1).ใช้กับเหตุการณ์ที่กำลังกระทำอยู่ในขณะที่พูดต่อไปเรื่อยๆ จนจบการกระทำนั้น

เช่น We are studying English at present.

2).คำกริยาบ้างตัวเราไม่สามารถใช้ได้กับ Present Continuous Tense
ถึงแม้ว่าเหตุการณ์นั้นจะกำลังเกิดขึ้น หรือ ดำเนินอยู่ก็ตาม โดยเรามักใช้ในรูปของ Present Simple Tense กับคำกริยากลุ่มนี้แทน ซึ่ง ได้แก่

2.1 Verb of Perception (กริยาเกี่ยวกับการรับรู้และประสาทสัมผัส) ได้แก่

see, hear, feel, taste, smell
เช่น I smell something bad. (ถูก)

* I am smelling something bad. (ผิด)

2.2 กริยาที่แสดงความนึกคิด ความรู้สึก ได้แก่ know, understand, think, believe, agree, notice, doubt, suppose, forget, remember, consider, recognize, appreciate, forgive

เช่น I believe her. (ถูก)

* I am believing her. (ผิด)

2.3 กิริยาที่แสดงความชอบและไม่ชอบ ได้แก่ like , dislike , love , hate , detest , prefer ,forgive , trust , distrust
เช่น He likes a woman with long hair. (ถูก)

* He is liking a woman with long hair. (ผิด)
2.4 กริยาที่แสดงความปรารถนา ได้แก่ wish, want, desire

เช่น I want to get married. (ถูก)
* I am wanting to get married. (ผิด)

2.5 กริยาที่แสดงความเป็นเจ้าของ ได้แก่ possess, have, own, belong to

เช่น This bicycle belongs to my brother.(ถูก)

*This bicycle belonging to my brother.(ผิด)

3).ใช้กับเหตุการณ์ที่กำลังจะเกิดขึ้นอนาคตอันใกล้ เช่น

- I am meeting my boss this evening. (ฉันจะพบกับเจ้านายเย็นนี้)

4). ใช้กับเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดซ้ำแล้วซ้ำอีก เช่น

- She is always coming to class late. (หล่อนมาสายประจำ)

การเติม ing ที่คำกิริยา ใน Present Continuous Tense
1.คำพยางค์เดียว มีสระ (vowel) ตัวเดียว ลงท้ายด้วยพยัญชนะ (consonat)

ตัวเดียว ต้องเพิ่มพยัญชนะตัวท้ายเข้า อีก 1 ตัว เเล้วจึงเติม ing เช่น

run - running วิ่ง stop - stopping หยุด

put - putting วาง shut - shutting ปิด

stir - stirring คนให้ทั่ว beg - begging ขอ,ขอร้อง

2. คำสองพยางค์ ซึ่งลงเสียงหนัก (stress) ที่พยางค์ท้าย มีสระพยางค์ท้าย

เพียงตัวเดียว และลงท้ายด้วยพยัญชนะ ตัวเดียว ต้องเพิ่มพยัญชนะตัวท้ายนั้น

เข้าอีก 1 ตัว เเล้ว จึงเติม ing เช่น

begin - beginning เริ่มต้น forget - forgetting ลืม occur - occurring เกิดขึ้น

**แต่ถ้าลงเสียงหนักพยางค์แรก ไม่ต้องเพิ่มพยัญชนะตัวท้ายอีก เช่น cover - covering ปกคลุม edit - editing จัดการ

*****ยกเว้น คำต่อไปนี้ลงเสียงหนักที่พยางค์แรก แต่ยังคงเพิ่มพยัญชนะท้ายตัวหนึ่งก่อนเติม ing คือ

worship - worshipping บูชา,นับถือ

handicap - handicapping ต่อแต้มให้,เป็นอุปสรรค

kidnap - kidnapping ลักพาตัว

*****คำพิเศษ

picnic - picnicking ไปเที่ยวปิกนิก

panic - panicking ตื่นกลัว

mimic - mimicking ล้อเล่น

3. คำกริยาที่ลงท้ายด้วย E ให้ตัด E ทิ้ง แล้วเติม –ing เช่น

write - writing , ride - riding , make - making ,
take - taking , use - using , drive - driving

4. คำที่ลงท้ายด้วย ie ให้เปลี่ยน ie เป็น y แล้วจึงเติม ing เช่น
die - dying , lie - lying

5. กริยาที่ลงท้ายด้วย EE ให้เติม -ing ได้เลย เช่น

see – seeing

6. กริยาทั่วไปเติม –ing ได้เลย เช่น

dry – drying , look – looking , listen – listening ,

walk – walking , drink – drinking

ถ้าเจอ Adverb of Time ต่อไปนี้มักจะเป็น
Present Continuous

now , at this moment , at the moment , today , at present , still ,
for the time being , right now , currently , at the present time

Past Continuous Tense

รูปแบบของ Past Continuous Tense ก็คือ

1.ประโยคบอกเล่า (Affirmative Sentence)

= Subject + was/were + V.ing

2.ประโยคปฏิเสธ ( Negative Sentence )

= Subject + was/were + not + V.ing

3.ประโยคคำถาม (Question Sentence)

= was/were + Subject + V.ing?

หรือ Who/What/Where/When/Why/How +

was/were + Subject + V.ing?

หลักการใช้ Past Continuous Tense

1.ใช้กับเหตุการณ์ชี้เฉพาะ(Specific Past)
เช่น - He was having breakfast at eight o’clock yesterday.

- I was reading a book at this time yesterday.

2.ใช้กับเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นเกิดขึ้นควบคู่กันไป ณ เวลาเดียวกันโดย เหตุการณ์ทั้งสองเหตุการณ์ จะใช้ Past Continuous Tense โดยจะมีคำเชื่อม คือ while และ as อยู่ด้วย
เช่น - I was sleeping while the teacher was teaching.

(ฉันนอนหลับขณะที่คุณครูกำลังสอนอยู่)

3.ใช้กับเหตุการณ์ 2 เหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นซ้อนกันในอดีต โดยจะมีตัวเชื่อมจำพวก when, while

*เหตุการณ์ที่เกิดก่อนและกำลังดำเนินอยู่ ใช้ Past Continuous .

*เหตุการณ์สั้นๆที่เข้ามาแทรก ใช้ Past Simple .

เช่น -He was sleeping when the robbers came in the room.

**** ให้นักเรียนท่องว่า พาสคอน (past con) เกินก่อน พาสซิม (past sim) เกิดหลัง

คำกริยาที่นำมาใช้กับ Past Continuous ต้องเป็นกริยาที่สามารถแสดงการกระทำได้นาน

คำกริยาที่สามารถทำได้นานและเห็นมาออกข้อสอบบ่อยๆ เช่น

do, drive, eat, have, read,sing, sit, sleep, swim, teach, write, clean, cook, cry, dance, play, rain, walk, wash, watch
